Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is an actor from Denmark. Danish actor from Denmark. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) in the third series of Sherlock, as well as Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was given the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At 27 years old when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the institution in 1995. In addition to his part in The Killing, [1] he also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama that was widely acclaimed. He was also a key role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock in which he played blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the President of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje,which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm
