Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She's the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist writer, philanthropist, and philanthropist for more than 10 years. She is also the founder of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Her birthplace was Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she became the head of the famous debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. The success of her columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she graduated. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered critiques of the state of the nation's politics. Her fame helped to attract several well-known contributors for posting their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she was elected as an independent candidate in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she was the leader of a Detroit project to promote the use of fuel-efficient cars. Her name was voted as the most Influential Women in Media by Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th spot on this list. That same year Guardian named her on the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the media division at AOL. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she was close to her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her character. In her early years, she displayed the qualities of a leader and is a household name. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first woman president, and also the only foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and as a host on television. Additionally, she starred alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editorial assistance.
