Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington has worked as television personality, journalist writer, television philanthropist and author for a decade. Her role also includes being the owner of The Huffington Post, an free-of-cost online newsmagazine. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at age 16. When she attended Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. When she graduated, she made her reputation as an independent syndicated columnist, as well as with the launch of The Huffington Post' few months later, she created a voice-based website that gave critical opinions on the political scenario. The fame of her name helped by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to share their opinions about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna gained fame in 2003 after she decided to be an independent in the California recall election in order to replace the then governor Davis. In addition to this she was also the director of the Detroit Project to promote fuel-efficient vehicles. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top women in media gaining 12th position in the ranking. In the same year Guardian included her in the Top 100 Media list. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was made president of this group of media. The acquisition included numerous AOL properties at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close friendship with both her father and mother the bond between them which helped mold her. Through her early period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which she is still well-known. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies as well as enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. In 1972she received a Masters in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic, and a television host. Then she appeared on an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books, utilizing editorial guidance from Bernard Levin.
